REGIONAL LONG TERM DEVELOPMENT PLAN

OFFICIALLY OPENED – On Friday, December 15 2023 Plt. Assistant Regional Secretary for Papua, Yohanes Walilo for Government, in Jayapura City. Opened the meeting to prepare the initial draft of the Regional Long Term Development Plan (RPJPD) for Papua Province 2025 – 2045.

Specifically for Indigenous Papuans (OAP), the preparation of this planning document will focus heavily on realizing fair and equitable regional development for the welfare of the Papuan people. This opportunity is very good for the Papuan people because jobs and existing facilities will increase.

Walilo also said in the middle of the meeting that “one of the efforts we can make to accommodate these expectations is by preparing a Long Term Regional Development Plan (RPJPD) which is an elaboration of the vision, mission and direction of regional development over the next 20 year period.”

In the meeting, efforts that the government can make are by approaching the community through long-term development which is estimated to last up to 20 years.

“The Papua Province RPJMD document for 2005-2025 is now nearing the end of the period. “In accordance with Law Number 25 of 2004 and Regulation of the Minister of Home Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Number 86 of 2017, it is necessary to ensure the sustainability of the Development of Papua Province for the next 20 years through the preparation of the RPJPD document for Papua Province for 2025-2045,” explained Walilo.

On the other hand, in accordance with the Papua Provincial Government regarding the preparation of evaluations of the results of implementing long-term development plans. The government has also carried out an evaluation of the results of the implementation of the 2005 – 2025 RPJPD, in order to follow up on the Circular Letter of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 600.2.1/1570/SJ, especially regarding the level of performance achievement of the main targets of the RPJPD at each of the 4 stages of the RPJPD that have been determined previously.

Walilo still said, “Of course, this RPJPD evaluation is a strategic momentum and commitment for the Papua Provincial Government, showing evidence of transparency and accountability in the implementation of long-term development planning. The results of this evaluation provide a comprehensive and holistic analysis of the achievements of the implementation of the RPJPD for Papua Province in 2005-2025”.

It was informed that the socialization or orientation for the preparation of the RPJPD Plan for Papua Province 2025 – 2045, among other things, aims to ensure the same perception between the provincial government, the Papuan DPR and others regarding the process of preparing the 2025 – 2045 RPJPD.

This activity was also attended by a number of Heads of Regional Work Units (SKPD) and carried out in a hybrid manner with resource persons from Bappenas and the Ministry of Home Affairs.

And for now, it is the basis for preparing the RPJMD in a technocratic manner in facing the simultaneous regional elections in 2024 so that it is in line with the vision of a Golden Indonesia 2045. It will have the best potential in accelerating long-term development for various aspects in Papua.
