Ministry of PUPR Starts Construction of Flats and Rusus in DOB Papua

PAPUA – The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) stated that it is ready to support the development of the New Autonomous Region (dob) of Papua. This is carried out through various infrastructure developments including vertical housing and special houses for the provincial governments of South Papua and Central Papua.

“We are ready to carry out infrastructure development of flats and special houses for the ASN of the South Papua Provincial Government and the construction of ASN flats for the Central Papua Provincial Government,” said Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Mohammad Zainal Fatah, represented by the Head of the Bureau of Budget Planning and Foreign Cooperation (PAKLN) of the Secretariat General of the Ministry of PUPR, Edy Juharsyah.

According to Zainal Fatah, the decision to encourage the development of basic infrastructure and housing is based on strategic considerations and the need to improve public services, regional autonomy, and community welfare in the Papua region.

“The construction of this residence indirectly supports the advancement of Papua, because these flats and special houses are residential function buildings that will later be utilized by ASNs serving in the Papua DOB. It is hoped that the construction of this residence can gradually be completed and operated in July 2025,” he explained.

Zainal explained, today Friday, August 30, 2024, the Ministry of PUPR carried out an important agenda, namely the Signing of the Contract for the Work Package for the Construction of Flats and Special Houses in the Papua New Autonomous Region (DOB), which is a meaningful momentum as a starting line for all colleagues in carrying out the responsibility of providing decent housing for ASNs who will work to advance Papua.

Some forms of support from the Ministry of PUPR for Housing Infrastructure Development in South Papua Province include flats for ASN as many as two towers as high as three floors with a total of 88 units of type 36 and 50 units of type 70 special houses. Meanwhile, in Central Papua Province, two towers of flats as high as three floors with 88 units of type 36 housing will be built.

On that occasion, the signing of the Construction Work Contract in Support of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Papua was carried out directly by the Commitment Making Officer (PPK) of Flats and Special Houses of Papua Province, Second Michal Sopranita Maria Elisabeth Worabai, S.T. with representatives of PT Nindya Karya (Persero) and PT Djasa Uber Sakti Tbk witnessed by Primary High Officials and Intermediate High Officials at the Ministry of PUPR and PJ Governor.

Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR Iwan Suprijanto explained, in accordance with the direction of President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo and Minister of PUPR Basuki Hadimuljono, his party is ready to build housing infrastructure for the community and ASN in DOB Papua.

“Development from Papua will continue so that the DOB government will take place immediately. We also hope that the provincial government will appoint a technical team to provide assistance to the development process in the field so that the asset handover process can also be carried out and when completed it can be managed and utilized properly,” he said.

“One important thing is that DOB Papua is not just a new provincial capital, but also a form of accelerated development in Papua for the welfare of the Papuan people. The PUPR Ministry is a team that spearheads the historical development of advancing Papua.

I would like to congratulate the service providers who have been selected as winners of the physical package for the construction of flats and special houses in the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Papua which will be directly involved in building the country, realizing the progress of the development of the new provincial capital in Papua,” he said.
