Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua Holds Papua Mountain Province Level Timpora Meeting to Strengthen Foreigner Monitoring

PAPUA PEGUNUNGAN – The Immigration Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua held a Meeting of the Foreigner Supervision Team of Papua Mountain Province at the Baliem Pilamo Hotel Hall, Jayawijaya Regency, Thursday (31/7/2024).

The Coordination Meeting of the Foreigner Monitoring Team of Papua Mountains Province was officially opened by the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua, Antonius M. Ayorbaba, S.H., M.Si and attended by the Acting Governor of Papua Mountains, Dr. Velix Vernando Wanggai, Acting Regional Secretary, Drs. Wasuok Demianus Siep.

Participants at the event were various related agencies and law enforcement officials who were members of Timpora in Jayawijaya Regency, Papua Mountains Province and all Heads of Immigration Offices throughout Papua.

Acting Governor of Papua Mountains Velix Vernando Wanggai appreciated the implementation of the Coordination Meeting of the Foreigner Supervision Team at the Papua Mountains Province Level and invited all members of the Foreigner Supervision Team to continue to work professionally and with integrity in order to maintain the integrity and security of the State, especially in the Jayawijaya Regency, “we thank the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua for holding the Pora Team Coordination Meeting in the Province in Wamena,” he said.

Vernando hopes that the work program of the Provincial Foreigner Supervision Team can provide benefits and positive impacts on development in the Papua Mountains region and ensure that foreign nationals in Jayawijaya Regency can make a positive contribution here.

Head of Immigration Division Ganda Samosir said, the purpose and objective of holding the Coordination Meeting of the Foreigner Supervision Team at the Papua Mountains Province level in 2024 was also coupled with the big agenda of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua serving Papua Mountains, “as for the purpose and objective of holding the Coordination Meeting of the Foreigner Supervision Team at the Provincial level in 2024, including to increase synergy in the context of supervision and enforcement of immigration law in the Papua Mountains Province,” he said.

This meeting of the Foreigner Supervision Team discussed actual issues and problems that are developing in the Papua Mountains Province. One of the main focuses was the increasing number of foreign tourists in the region. In this context, the importance of supervision that focuses on the comfort of visitors is expressed as an integral part of the strategy to maintain the security and sovereignty of the country.

Along with this, the tourism sector in Jayawijaya Regency of Papua Mountain Province is expected to continue to grow in line with security principles that remain intact and maintained.

The Head of the Immigration Division of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Papua, Ganda Samosir, revealed that the Immigration Division of the Papua Regional Office will continue to support the acceleration of economic development in the New Autonomous Region of Papua Mountain Province. This is especially in the tourism sector and considering that Jayawijaya Regency has become one of the favorite tourist destinations for foreign tourists, especially for foreigners who carry out outdoor climbing activities and others, “through the activities of the Coordination Meeting of the Foreigner Supervision Team in the Papua Mountains Province, we hope that in the future all members of the Foreigner Supervision Team who are present in accordance with their duties and functions are jointly committed to helping build the potential that exists in the Jayawijaya Regency area, especially the development of the tourism sector and we also hope that in the future we can jointly carry out Joint Operations in the Jayawijaya Regency area of Papua Mountains Province, “said Ganda Samosir.
