MINISTRY OF HOMELAND IS READY TO OVERSEE THE ACCELERATION OF DEVELOPMENT OF NEW 4 AUTONOMOUS REGIONS IN PAPUA

Jakarta – The Domestic Policy Strategy Agency (BSKDN) of the Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) is encouraging the acceleration of development in the New 4 Autonomous Regions (DOB) of Papua including the Provinces of South Papua, Central Papua, Mountain Papua and Southwest Papua. Accelerating development can be done through innovation-based policy strategies.

This was confirmed by BSKDN Secretary Abas Supriyadi when providing assistance representing the Head of BSKDN Yusharto Huntoyungo in Wamena Regency, Papua Mountains, Friday (22/3/2024).

“We have the responsibility to provide assistance to local governments to formulate strategic policy formulations so that they can achieve development goals more quickly,” that was Abas said in his written statement, Saturday (23/3/2024).

After that “Accelerating development is very possible if the Papua Mountain Provincial Government constructs. Its policy strategy is based on innovation and if all of this is fulfilled, it is not impossible that accelerated development can be carried out according to plan. “We are trying to accompany the new autonomous regions to design and construct regional government policy strategies through innovative activity programs”

The acceleration of development can later be seen from the increase in the results of measuring the Regional Innovation Index (IID) for the Papua Mountain Province. Therefore, innovation has a crucial role in improving competitiveness and accelerating regional economic development.

Apart from developing the regional economy, the program to accelerate the development of new autonomous regions (DOB) has a very positive influence on reducing the gaps that occur, because so far development has been the main problem of the people in Papua, so with this the acceleration of regional development must boost wider benefits for the community at Papua.

On this occasion, Abas also revealed that there were several strategic issues that could be used as a reference in formulating policy strategies in the new 4 autonomous regions of Papua, including optimizing the quality of regional autonomy, controlling regional inflation and extreme poverty, synergy of national policies and programs, Human Resources capacity development, and digital transformation of government.

Moreover Abas already said: “In this way, we hope that the results of the identification that we have carried out can be used as a reference for strengthening policy strategies.”
