The development strategy carried out in Southwest Papua certainly needs to be thought through carefully. There are many aspects that need to be discussed in implementing development in a new province. Starting from careful planning, execution according to plan, and maintenance of development that must always be carried out. The development process can be said to never end and will even continue to be carried out in order to realize community welfare. The importance of designing strategies and implementing development strategies has made the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua, Mohammad Musa’ad, inaugurate several experts with their respective fields who will assist the development process in the province from the beginning of development, during the development process, and also until the end of development.
The various fields owned by the experts involved include government, economics, environment and natural resources. The government sector is represented by an expert, namely Dr. Agustinus Fatem. He will assist the local government regarding how to compile and ratify development policies that contain strategic ideas related to how the development concept will be implemented in Southwest Papua Province.
The economic sector is represented by an expert, namely Dr. Baltasar Kambuaya. He will assist the regional government of the Southwest Papua Province regarding how to prepare a regional development budget plan as well as how to manage the budget optimally so that development can run smoothly. Experts in the field of economics also help the regional government to think about the next strategic steps that can be used to build human resources in the West Papua Province so that they can be more productive and also improve the economic welfare of the community.
The field of environment and natural resources is represented by an expert, namely Dr. Hidayat Alhamid. He will assist the regional government of the Southwest Papua Province regarding how to plan a development strategy that can have a positive impact on the environment and also maintain existing natural resources so that they remain sustainable. It should be noted that the Southwest Papua Province has abundant natural resources and is still continuously being preserved by the community, especially the Indigenous Papuans, with various accompanying customary rules. The existing development is expected to be able to maintain the environment with various supplies of available natural resources so that they are maintained as before and even for their use can lead to community welfare as well as balanced natural sustainability.
The hope from the involvement of experts in the development process in Southwest Papua is of course to be able to assist the Regional Government to design and implement the development process with maximum results. The involvement of experts is also a form of synergy between the community and the Regional Government to develop Southwest Papua according to the needs of the community who want a development process whose results can support the welfare of the community, especially the Indigenous Papuans.
