Governor of Southwest Papua Distributes Funds to Each District

SOUTHWEST PAPUA: With the existence of government flagship programs that always want to be achieved when making plans at the beginning of work as a public servant. The Southwest Papua Provincial Government will soon distribute community empowerment funds of 100 million rupiah to all districts with a total budget allocated by the province reaching 13.2 billion rupiah for 132 districts in Southwest Papua Province.

Head of Research and Innovation Division of Bappeda of Southwest Papua Province Frengky Saa said that this assistance was the idea of the Acting Governor of Southwest Papua in the context of implementing Government Regulation No. 106 of 2021 concerning the authority and institutional implementation of the special autonomy policy of Papua province.

According to him, the distribution of empowerment funds amounted to 100 million rupiah per district and was ready to be distributed. The local government has prepared a Grant Decree and a Regional Grant Agreement Script and the assistance will soon be transferred to all districts starting on August 6 or 7, 2024.

“All districts have signed the grant. Only a few areas in South Sorong remain. If it is completed in two days, then we will ask for the willingness of the Acting Governor to attend the grant submission,” he said during his visit to Raja Ampat.

The Southwest Papua Provincial Government also wants to immediately realize the program. Frengky explained that the budget is used by the district to carry out delegated tasks from the province. For example, data collection of stunting toddlers, data collection of old age protection programs or Paitua.  He admitted that the provincial government had prepared technical interpreters regarding the use of funds for districts. Districts are also asked to participate in implementing the Healthy Papua, smart Papua and productive Papua programs, as well as six other Pj governor’s agendas.

Therefore, the government hopes for encouragement and support from the community to continue to work together between other communities and the government in order to achieve the programs made by the local and central governments.
